The government will officially open the reconstructed Dharahara Tower to the public on November 24, as announced by Communication Minister Prithvi Subba Gurung. Children under 10 can access the 22-story tower for free, while senior citizens above 70 will get a 50% discount. Previously, 500 visitors could enter without charge starting September 19.
Dharahara is categorized as a “special structure” under the Special Structures Operation and Management Development Committee Formation Order (2024). The committee, chaired by the Secretary of Urban Development, will manage and maintain special structures, including Dharahara and others like Damak View Tower and various conference halls.
The Cabinet also appointed members to committees for national decorations and economic reform, approved grants from Switzerland for migration programs, and endorsed key meetings with China on border trade. Additionally, Dr. Suresh Prasad Acharya was named Chief Information Commissioner, and Dr. Baikuntha Aryal’s resignation as Chief Secretary was accepted following his acquittal on corruption charges.
