A high-level roundtable on India–Nepal cooperation in technology and startups was held in Janakpur, bringing together government officials, industry leaders, and entrepreneurs to strengthen cross-border collaboration in innovation and business.
The discussion focused on expanding partnerships in emerging technologies, startups, and small and medium enterprises, with participants highlighting the growing potential of Nepal’s startup ecosystem. Speakers emphasized that closer cooperation with India could help Nepali startups gain access to larger markets, technical expertise, investment opportunities, and mentorship networks.
Officials stressed the importance of knowledge sharing in areas such as information technology, digital services, artificial intelligence, fintech, and innovation-driven entrepreneurship. Entrepreneurs from both countries shared experiences and explored practical ways to collaborate, including joint ventures, startup exchanges, incubation support, and cross-border business facilitation.
Special attention was given to Madhesh Province as a strategic hub for technology and enterprise, citing its geographic location, cultural ties, and growing youth-led entrepreneurial activity. Participants agreed that regional connectivity and people-to-people engagement could play a key role in accelerating innovation-driven growth.
The roundtable concluded with a shared commitment to deepen India–Nepal cooperation in the tech and startup sector, viewing collaboration as a pathway to job creation, economic growth, and a stronger innovation ecosystem in both countries.
