Nepalese Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has declared that there are no immediate plans to raise employee salaries.
Speaking at the 21st Civil Service Day event in Kathmandu on Saturday, Prime Minister Oli acknowledged the challenges faced by civil servants but stated that the current economic climate does not allow for a salary increase.
He referenced a previous situation when civil servants received a 25 percent salary boost during a stronger economic period and pointed out that even a modest raise of 25 paisa is unattainable at the moment.
Prime Minister Oli highlighted that without a collective effort to strengthen the nation’s economy and overcome existing obstacles, there will be no improvements in the remuneration and benefits for civil servants. Additionally, he commented that the opposition’s organized and sponsored actions are being seen as acts of bravery without substantial follow-through.
Furthermore, Prime Minister Oli accused certain groups of attempting to undermine the country’s culture, civilization, and social values.
