Nepal recorded a significant rebound in its tourism sector in 2025, with more than 1.15 million foreign tourists visiting the country over the year, according to the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB). The figure reflects a strong recovery following years of slowdown caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and global economic challenges.
The rise in tourist arrivals has been attributed to improved international travel conditions, expanded air connectivity, and Nepal’s continued appeal as a destination for trekking, mountaineering, cultural heritage, and adventure tourism. Popular destinations such as Kathmandu Valley, Pokhara, Lumbini, and Everest region saw increased footfall throughout the year.
Tourism officials say the growth has provided a major boost to the national economy, supporting hotels, travel agencies, airlines, guides, and local businesses dependent on tourism. The sector is also a key source of foreign currency earnings and employment in Nepal.
The Nepal Tourism Board stated that efforts are ongoing to further improve infrastructure, promote sustainable tourism, and diversify tourist destinations in order to maintain growth in the coming years.
