Indian police have arrested four Nepali nationals in Gurgaon in connection with a WhatsApp-based stock market scam. The four were among five individuals detained during a cybercrime investigation targeting fraudulent online investment schemes.
According to police, the group allegedly used WhatsApp to lure victims with promises of high returns from stock market investments. Victims were reportedly added to messaging groups where fake trading tips and manipulated profit screenshots were shared to gain trust before money was collected.
During the operation, authorities seized multiple mobile phones, SIM cards, and financial documents believed to be used in carrying out the scam. Investigators are examining digital records and bank transactions to trace the full scale of the operation and identify additional suspects or victims.
Police officials stated that the investigation is ongoing and warned the public to remain cautious of unsolicited investment offers circulating on social media and messaging platforms. Further arrests are possible as the probe continues.
