Nepal is witnessing a concerning rise in Japanese Encephalitis (JE) cases, with the Department of Health Services reporting 164 confirmed infections this year, nearly double the 86 cases recorded during the same period last year.
Health authorities have urged the public, especially those living in rural and high-risk areas, to remain vigilant and adopt preventive measures such as using mosquito nets and eliminating stagnant water sources.
Officials emphasize that early detection and treatment are vital to reducing fatalities, as JE can lead to severe brain inflammation if untreated. The government has also announced plans to intensify awareness campaigns and expand vaccination coverage in vulnerable districts.
