Continuous downpours have triggered severe landslides and flood damage across Bagmati Province, completely severing key arterial highways and forcing traffic authorities to enforce strict travel limits.
The Nepal Police issued a road condition update confirming a complete vehicular shutdown along the Prithvi Highway after a major landslide hit Krishnabhir in Benighat Rorang-7, Dhading. Heavy equipment and technical teams have been deployed to clear debris, though persistent landslip risks continue to hamper efforts. Nearby stretches, including Parewa Bhir and Kamere Bhir, are operating on limited single-lane access exclusively for light vehicles.
To minimize safety risks, nighttime movement bans and load-capacity restrictions have been instituted along other major transit corridors. Travel along the Tokha-Chhahare stretch in Nuwakot has been prohibited overnight between 10:00 PM and 5:00 AM. Meanwhile, on the BP Highway in Kavre, freight vehicles under 10 tonnes are permitted only during designated off-peak hours.
Authorities strongly advise long-distance commuters to delay non-essential travel and check local police updates before departing.
