Engineering and contractor-related insurance bears the brunt of the losses, with 52 policyholders filing claims exceeding Rs 20.5 billion. These claims are heavily concentrated in the hydropower sector along the affected corridors, where at least 12 to 14 hydropower projects—both operational and under construction—sustained severe structural damage.
Among insurers, Oriental Insurance reported the highest preliminary liability, with eight policyholders lodging claims totaling approximately Rs 13 billion. Other major claims were registered with United Ajod (Rs 4.97 billion), Sanima GIC (Rs 2.10 billion), Siddharth Premier (Rs 1.88 billion), and Shikhar Insurance (Rs 1.87 billion across 127 policyholders).
Beyond engineering risks, property insurance claims reached Rs 2.34 billion (113 claims), motor vehicle claims totaled Rs 1.55 billion (313 claims), and transit cargo claims accounted for Rs 890 million. The total claim figure is expected to rise
