India has handed over more than 60 vehicles to Nepal to assist in preparations for the upcoming general elections scheduled for March 5. The vehicles were provided as part of India’s election support initiative aimed at strengthening Nepal’s logistical capacity during the polling process.
According to officials, this delivery marks the first tranche of assistance, with plans in place to supply a total of around 650 vehicles in phases. The vehicles will be used by the Election Commission of Nepal to facilitate transportation of election materials, officials, and security personnel, particularly in remote and geographically challenging areas.
Nepali authorities have welcomed the support, stating that it will help ensure smooth, timely, and transparent electionsacross all constituencies. Effective logistics are considered crucial for Nepal, given its difficult terrain and the scale of nationwide polling.
The assistance reflects continued cooperation between Nepal and India in democratic processes and institutional capacity-building. With nomination filing underway and election preparations intensifying, the added logistical support is expected to play a key role in the successful conduct of the March 5 elections.
