Japan and Nepali institutions have signed an agreement under the Nepal–Japan Service Exchange Program to recruit 20,000 Nepali caregivers for employment in Japan’s health and elderly care sector. The initiative aims to address Japan’s growing demand for healthcare workers while creating overseas employment opportunities for Nepali youth.
According to the agreement, eligible applicants must be between 18 and 45 years old. Candidates will be required to pass Japanese language proficiency tests along with relevant skills assessments related to caregiving. Those who meet the criteria will then undergo interviews conducted by Japanese healthcare companies and institutions.
Officials state that the program will ensure legal, safe, and structured employment, with workers receiving training, fair wages, and proper work conditions in Japan. The initiative is also expected to enhance skill development among Nepali workers and contribute to remittance inflows.
The recruitment process is expected to begin soon, with further details on application procedures to be released by concerned authorities. The move has been welcomed by job seekers, as overseas employment continues to play a vital role in Nepal’s economy.
