Nepal’s passport has been ranked 101st in the world according to the latest Henley Passport Index, which measures the strength of passports based on the number of destinations holders can access without a prior visa.
The ranking reflects the current level of global mobility available to Nepali citizens, with visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to a limited number of countries compared to higher-ranked passports. Factors such as diplomatic relations, visa policies, and international agreements play a key role in determining a country’s position on the index.
Despite gradual improvements in international travel and diplomacy, Nepal continues to lag behind many countries in South Asia in terms of passport strength. Officials and policy experts note that enhancing bilateral relations and negotiating visa facilitation agreements could help improve Nepal’s ranking in the future.
