Today, the world, including Nepal, observes World Meditation Day through various programs aimed at promoting meditation and its benefits. The United Nations General Assembly declared December 21 as World Meditation Day on December 6, 2024, emphasizing the right to the highest attainable standard of physical and mental health.
To commemorate the occasion, a global 32-hour marathon meditation program has been organized. In Nepal, numerous religious, spiritual, cultural, and social organizations are celebrating the Day, applauding the UN’s historic decision to recognize it annually.
The Government of Nepal has also declared the nationwide observance of this Day, with yoga, meditation, and spiritual organizations across the country hosting diverse activities. The Nepal Maharishi Vedic Foundation is leading a mass meditation session at 8:45 am today at its meditation centers, the Global Mother Divine, and 90 gurukulas, according to its Chairperson, Deepak Prakash Baskota.
Similarly, organizations such as Jeevan Vigyan, Patanjali Sanstha, and Brahma Kumari Rajayoga Sewa Kendra have planned various programs to mark the occasion.
