Fifa confirms Saudi Arabia as 2034 World Cup hosts

The 2034 men’s football World Cup will be held in Saudi Arabia, while Spain, Portugal, and Morocco will co-host the 2030 tournament. FIFA has also decided that three 2030 matches will be held in Argentina, Paraguay, and Uruguay to celebrate the competition’s 100th anniversary. The hosts were confirmed by FIFA’s Extraordinary Congress following votes, with all 211 member nations represented. Norway abstained due to concerns about the bidding process. Switzerland and Denmark supported the bids but called for human rights oversight. Saudi Arabia’s hosting has faced criticism over its human rights record. Of the 15 proposed stadiums for 2034, only four are currently built.
