Lamichhane remanded in custody for seven more days

The Kaski District Court has extended Rabi Lamichhane’s custody by an additional seven days.

A single bench led by Judge Chandra Kant Paudel granted permission to the police to detain Lamichhane for further investigation into his alleged involvement in the misappropriation of deposits at the Pokhara-based Surya Darshan Cooperatives.

Lamichhane, the President of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) and former Home Minister, was taken into custody on October 18 in connection with the cooperative fraud case.

Earlier this week, the court had initially authorized his detention for six days to facilitate the ongoing investigation.
