By the end of Bhadra (mid-August to mid-September) in the current fiscal year, the Birgunj Customs Office has facilitated the export of goods worth Rs 5.263 billion. In comparison, during the same period in the previous fiscal year, goods worth Rs 5.293 billion were exported.
Deepak Lamichhane, the chief customs administrator, reported a notable increase in the export of mustard cake, with 6.953 million kilograms valued at Rs 495.92 million being exported this year. Synthetic yarn exports also saw growth, with 1.4568 million kilograms worth Rs 333.39 million exported this year, compared to 838,140 kilograms worth Rs 203.66 million in the same period last year.
Additionally, 1.79160 million kilograms of ‘MS steel strip’ valued at Rs 129.32 million were exported by the end of Bhadra this fiscal year.
However, exports of woolen carpets experienced a decline, with 54,182 square meters worth Rs 118.2 million exported, representing a 20.43 percent decrease compared to the previous year.
Meanwhile, the export of juice and jam has risen by 5.11 percent, with 13.645 million liters valued at Rs 1.293 billion being exported. Moreover, 67,380 kilograms of pet food, specifically dog and cat food, worth Rs 117.98 million, were exported by the end of Bhadra in the current fiscal year.
