Transport authorities and engineers have completed the construction of a new 300-meter diversion track along the landslide-damaged Krishnabhir section of the Nagdhunga–Muglin road. The key arterial route along the Prithvi Highway was cut off after monsoon floods damaged its retaining structures, prompting intensive round-the-clock excavation work by heavy equipment crews.
Following wall-side hill cutting and initial grading, authorities initiated trial vehicle movements to test the stability of the temporary track. Essential cargo, fuel tankers, and stranded freight trucks were selectively allowed through under controlled conditions, while heavy machinery continued finishing tasks including gravelling, drainage installation, and slope stabilization.
Project officials from the Nagdhunga–Muglin Road Project noted that while the section remains vulnerable to further weather-induced risks, the track has reached a safe working capacity. Two-way traffic for public passenger vehicles and freight is scheduled to resume fully, restoring vital transport and supply lines between Kathmandu and the rest of the country.
