Tension Rises in Birgunj as India–Nepal Border Security Tightened

Tension has escalated in Birgunj, a key border city between Nepal and India, following recent protests and the raising of provocative slogans near the frontier. The unrest has prompted heightened security measures, with authorities enforcing curfew-like conditions in sensitive areas to prevent further escalation.

According to reports by AajTak, the situation worsened after demonstrations turned tense, raising concerns about public safety and cross-border stability. In response, security forces from both sides increased their presence, closely monitoring movement and public gatherings in and around the border zones.

As a precautionary step, parts of the India–Nepal border near Birgunj have reportedly been sealed temporarily. Officials say the move aims to control movement, maintain law and order, and stop the situation from spilling over into neighboring areas.

Local administrations have urged residents to remain calm and cooperate with security personnel. While the situation remains under control for now, authorities continue to closely watch developments to ensure peace and stability along the vital India–Nepal border.
