The two-day Red Panda and Tahr Festival-2082 is set to commence next Monday, celebrating Mundum Trail Visit Year-2025. Organized by the Diktel Rupakot Majhuwagadhi Municipality, the festival aims to raise awareness and promote the conservation of the endangered Red Panda and Himalayan Tahr, according to Mayor Tirtha Raj Bhattarai. Both species are native to Nepal and classified as endangered.
The event will take place in Hurlung, located on the Diktel-Halesi road section of the Mid-Hill Highway. Highlights of the festival include a vibrant food fair and showcases of local costumes, lifestyles, and products that reflect the diverse cultural heritage of the region’s ethnic communities. Additionally, an exhibition and screening of photos and videos featuring Red Pandas and Tahrs will be organized.
As part of the event, the Mundum Trail Red Panda-Tahr Route will officially be inaugurated by actor Dayahang Rai, the goodwill ambassador of Mundum Trail Visit Year-2025. This route begins in Hurlung along the Diktel-Halesi road segment.
The Mundum Trail Visit Year-2025 initiative aims to attract approximately 100,000 domestic and international tourists to the region.
