Iran launched a large-scale missile attack on Israel, firing around 180 missiles, surpassing the April attack in size. Israeli military officials reported that some of the missiles hit targets in the center and south of the country, though the majority were intercepted. Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed it used hypersonic missiles for the first time and targeted Israeli military bases. The attack was a retaliation for the recent killings of senior IRGC and Hezbollah leaders, allegedly by Israel. Although the attack caused minor injuries, Israel has vowed a strong response, with Prime Minister Netanyahu warning that Iran will face serious consequences.
The U.S. and its allies have expressed strong support for Israel, with U.S. forces reportedly assisting in missile interceptions and the UK condemning Iran’s actions. Israeli defense systems, including the Iron Dome, David’s Sling, and the Arrow interceptors, played a crucial role in mitigating the damage. Israeli officials confirmed that the country remains on high alert, and the U.S. has warned Iran of “severe consequences” should it escalate the conflict further.
