Monsoon Winds Bring Heavy Rainfall Warnings and Disruptions Across Provinces

Monsoon winds are currently impacting the country, with the low-pressure line of the monsoon positioned at an average location in the west and around the average location in the south and east, according to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology’s weather bulletin issued today.

The forecast indicates that the weather will be partly to mostly cloudy across the country. Light rain, accompanied by thunder and lightning, is expected at one or two locations in Koshi and Lumbini provinces. This afternoon, similar weather conditions are likely, with light to moderate rain and thunder possible in several areas across all seven provinces.

Heavy rainfall is anticipated at one or two locations in the hilly region of Koshi Province. Tonight, the hilly regions, including those in Koshi, Madhes, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, will experience partly to mostly cloudy skies. Light to moderate rain, with occasional thunder and lightning, is also expected at a few locations in Koshi, Bagmati, and Karnali provinces, as well as at one or two locations in other provinces.

The Department has warned the public to be cautious of potential floods, landslides, and soil erosion in the hilly areas of Koshi Province, where heavy rainfall is likely. Authorities have also been advised to take necessary precautions as these weather conditions may partially disrupt daily life, agriculture, health, tourism, mountaineering, and both road and air transport in the affected areas.
